Diamond-Leaf Willow

Tundra Plants:Arctic Willow lives near to the ground. The plant survives there in the cold conditions because of the way it lives near the ground. Also, it holds on to any warm air that comes by. The Willow is the only species of tree that lives in that region. The Arctic Willow is also called the ''Salix Arctica.'' Lichens are fungi and algae that processes on rocks and trees over time. Lichens also does not need soil to grow. Moss, Bearberry, Caribou Moss, Pasqua Flower, Labrador Tea, Diamond-Leaf Willow are all plants in the tundra. Scientist found over 400 species of flowers in the tundra.
Tundra Facts: Tundra's cover about 10% of the earth. The tundra located up north. Tundra is the second most dangerous enviroment in the planet. The tundra is located in Alaska, Canada and many more places. The ice would never melt even at the tundra hottest. That is way it is called permafrost. ONLY THE SOIL WOULD DEFROST. It was formed 2,000 years ago. That would make it the youngest. The Deciduous Forest has around 5 times as much rain than we have per year. The Rainforest has 8 times as much rain.
Tundra Climate:The average summer temperature is 54F. The average winter temperature is 15F.The average rain is 15-22 inches per year. The tundra is very dry.The Tundra ice is great for the enviroment. It absorbs very large amounts of carbon dioxide in the air. Antarctic, Arctic and Alpine are 3 different types of tundra's in different regions of the world. There is endless darkness in the winter. In the summer there is endless sun. But summer only last for 6-10 weeks. As winter last for the whole rest of the year. At least 25-90 centimeters of frozen ground.

Only in the summer is when the plants grow and reproduce.

Tundra Animals:The Arctic Fox lives in freezing climates on the planet. A Caribou can also be known as a Reindeer. A fully grown male Polar Bear weighs about 350-680kg or 770-1500lb. The Snowy Owl is also known as ''Great White Owl and the Harfang. There are about 48 animal species living in the tundra. Some of the animals are related to other animals that can't ive in that area. For an example, a Snowy Owl can live in the tundra but a Cactus Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl can't. Also the other way around. It is not easy finding animals in the tundra and it is not hard also. You can not just look out side and see a Caribou walking on the ice frozen ground.

My Animal: The Arctic Hare can run up to 40 miles per hour!!! The Arctic Hare has long nails to let it dig through the snow and find its food. It also has longer legs when it extends and lets very fast. They also get body heat by huddling together. They look up for each other, for an example when one or a group is

sleeping one or two would stay up and make sure they are safe. The Arctic Hare smells and find food under the snow. If that doesn't work they jump on with the power of there feet. They live in a group of about 300.Three abiotic factors the Arctic Hare lives with are strong winds, short summers and permafrost on the ground.
